A series of silverprints (monotypes) created in the traditional darkroom method. The title Chemins is taken from the greek word [σεμέν] which is used to describe the elaborately handwoven decorative table clothes typically made by our grandmothers in the crochet technique. The name [σεμέν] itself is derived from the french word chemin which means path and is a crude translation for table runner. Until recently, these chemins were an essential part in the decoration of every household in Greece, usually adorning the living room tables and side tables and even the TV. Today they are considered by most people to be old fashioned and out of date but still have their place in the homes of elderly ladies.
